LEVERAGING YOUR BUSINESS’ DEVELOPMENT
Today there is record growth in the small business sector. Unfortunately, many small business owners will not reap the full potential of their business. A common reason for this is that they don’t have a systematic way of planning and implementing development, that uses the ideas of employees as well as owners. The result is that the owners find themselves working (hard) for the business - when the real goal is for the business to work for the owners.
Once you’ve made the decision to get into planned, systematic development, the next step is to decide where and how to start. This is where we come in. We support people to become skilled at using a four step program based on
the principle of leverage ....
Find and change the ONE thing that will give you the biggest possible result, in the shortest amount of time, with the least effort
When leverage has been applied at that point, review the business, identify the next point of leverage, and repeat the process.
THE FOUR STEPS
1. Self-assess the business
We provide an assessment tool that will enable you to rate your business against 10 areas critical to business success. Any number of people can take part in the assessment, the aim being to exchange perspectives to that everyone understands why this particular point of leverage has been selected. It takes about 30 minutes to complete the assessment.
2. Plan what you are going to do to get the leverage
We attend a planning sessions to provide our expertise in how to make changes, and how to make them stick. We work with the people in the business to develop their plan (not ours). We may be required to assist with implementation.
3. Implement the plan
We are available to help un-block blockages if they occur.
4. Review and re-plan
Evaluating the way the plan was implemented can be very beneficial for developing the skills of the individuals involved. We provide a simple review format which begins the process of identifiying the next point of leverage.
The cycle continues, and systematic development has become part of the normal way of doing things! You are on your way.
